Beyond Question are classroom remotes that actively engage students of all ages in learning. Teachers create surveys, questions, lessons, roster, etc with this program. Each student then uses a remote to participate in the activity. Instant results are then displayed. This program helps to include all students in the classroom. It also shows teachers which areas of the lesson students have mastered or the ones they may have to spend more time on. Flash drives can be very useful to anyone who uses a computer. Flash drives store documents, pictures, files, etc. that have been saved from a computer. A person can organize their documents and such on these tiny devices. Since the flash drive is small it is easy to take it wherever you are going. Anyone can by a flash drive for a resemble price. Flash drives are very important to education. I use my flash drive in all my classes to save the work I have done throughout the semester. Teachers can use flash drives to save any information, handouts, powerpoints, etc. that they may have about the class.

Supporting First Year Teachers

http://www.idra.org/Podcasts/Resources/Supporting_First_Year_Teachers_/

In this podcast, Dr. Adela Solis, IDRA senior education associate is interviewed by Bradley Scott, Ph. D. director of the IDRA south central collaborative for equity, about supporting new teachers. Dr. Solis defined a new teachers as one that has been in teaching three years or less and one that needs support beyond the first year. Being successful, effective, and retention are three things that new teachers should strive for. There are different things leaders of a school look for in new teachers including if the person is ready to teacher, are they a content expert, and will they be able to learn the culture of the school system. New teachers need to interact and observe other teachers in the school and also do self-assessments to see how they think they are doing. New teachers also need support within the school system. Usually the new teacher will have another teacher as a coach/mentor to turn to for support and questions. Dr. Solis also offered strategies for new teachers to be successful in their classrooms. Winning over the class by creating a vision of success with the students and also creating a classroom where the students wonder and are excited for learning, are both examples of strategies Dr. Solis suggested. She also suggested that new teachers become a part of the school by observing and respecting other teachers, and by staying positive.

New Technology

September 27, 2008

http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/

The laptop is a new technology that I believe will continue to improve and benefit many teachers and students. Laptops are portable which makes it easy to move them and take them wherever you need to. Teachers can use their laptops both at school and then take them home and continue working on them from there. As a college student, I use my laptop everyday for school and for fun.

RSS Reader

September 18, 2008

I am using Google Reader. I suscribed to Maggie Firestone, Kaitlyn Nelson, Emily Samimi, Laisha Wise, and Marina Nye’s blogs. I believe that rss technology will be very useful for organization. All the information you need such as your favorite and most visited websites, news, weather, students blogs, etc. can be put onto your main page. This will be helpful when learning and teaching because instead of having to bookmark all the websites you visit, they all will be on the same page.
